George Sand

At the center of the fifth part of the musical-literary salon is a dazzling figure of French romanticism, George Sand.

True to its motto “in search of old and new ideals of beauty”, the salon turns to the relationship between the writer and her colleague Alfred de Musset. During their two-year relationship, Sand and de Musset exchanged pointedly witty, passionate and sometimes humorous correspondence about art, love and life. In the proven, entertaining combination of scenic dialogue, music and singing, the salon traces the tense relationship between the two authors.

The musical framework is provided by chamber music (flute, violin and piano) and vocal works by Cecile Chaminade, Francis Poulenc, Gabriel Faure, Georges Bizet, Franz Liszt etc.
